It’s been a while since I have updated this site. I’ve been really busy with work and I didn’t get a chance to update this site or to work on the new flv skins. As of now I will start working on the new site with a lot of new features. Also I will start working on the FLV Player that will support my skins.

I plan to launch the new site in the middle of April. I will post about any changes. Thank you for your support and let me know if there are any features you would like to see on the site.

Easy Image Reflection in PHP

Easy Reflections is a single PHP 4 script that creates reflections from any given GIF, JPEG or PNG image. When I say ‘reflection’ I mean in the Apple style as seen in the likes of iTunes, and now spreading across the web faster than a coyote on an ACME rocket. Why would you want to do this? because as they’re saying ‘reflections are the new drop-shadows’.

The script will take any GIF, JPEG or PNG and create an new image based on it, which is a nicely formatted reflection of the original. You can use it to give your site that ‘iTunes / Apple’ look if you so desire. You can grab it from here along with instructions and examples.

A Place For Lonely Searchers

Lonely? Want someone to talk to? Go to ChaCha, a new search engine, and talk to a guide real time about your search. As long as you remain somewhat on topic, Iâ€™ve found that the guide will talk to you as long as you like.

There are two ways to search on ChaCha. They have a more traditional search engine that has good but not deep results. But the cool service is guide driven, via an instant message screen on the page. While I found that the results were not nearly as good as Google, it is a lot of fun to talk to the guides.

The company, which is based in Indianapolis, announced a $6 million round of financing today that included an investment by Jeff Bezos through his Bezos Expeditions fund (the same fund that invested in 37 Signals). This is a perfect fit for Amazonâ€™s Mechanical Turk product, and I expect the company will be using that service at some point for the search guides.

While it isnâ€™t clear to me how the company can make money inserting human labor into the search process, they now have at least $6 million to burn while trying. If youâ€™d like to be a ChaCha guide, you can apply here.
